When someone requests that you send money to them via Western Union, please keep in mind: once you send the money you will never receive a refund.

It dosen't matter if you add a code to the transfer or anything the recipient says. Once you hand the cash over the Western Union clerk, your money is gone.

Unlike Credit Cards, where you have the option of disputing a charge if you don't receive the goods or services, you have no options with Western Union.

If you are purchasing something and paying by Western Union you must investigate the person or company you are sending the money to so you are very sure you will receive the goods or services ordered.

If for some reason you have accepted an overpayment for something you are selling and "refunding" the extra via Western Union you need to be very sure the payment you received is not a forgery (regardless of what your bank might say, it can take many, many weeks for a "certified" check to be returned as a bad check)... weeks after you have send a "refund" by Western Union.
